Rekord numbers of visitors in Fürth!

A warm and sunny autumn day saw the SCHUCO Team once again welcome the members of the SCHUCO COLLECTORS CLUB to the company’s headquarters in Fürth, Germany. Many of the roughly 300 visitors who walked through the main doors of the SIMBA DICKIE GROUP that morning had travelled hundreds of kilometres to be there.

This year, the visitors again had the opportunity to view the SCHUCO showroom, to ask SCHUCO employees questions and to go on a guided tour. At the same time, many visitors took advantage of the chance to roam the swap meet, which was held in the canteen this year due to the large number of visitors. Individual pieces, blanks, a few new models for 2011 and various special and industrial models were on show in the casino, where they could be admired all day long.

Latest car models, such as the Audi R8, the Mini Countryman, the Audi A1, the BMW 5 Touring and the VW Touareg, were also on show in the inner courtyard; but the highlight, by far, was the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. A historic fire engine with turntable ladder and an ambulance were also on show the whole day. Nearly all these vehicles can be found in the Schuco range.

Tamiya employees presented various remote-control models: from the "X-CRAWLEE", which made light work of scaling a pile of wooden pallets, to the Fighter Buggys, which raced around a track at the speed of light. The club members were also given the opportunity to race and navigate the models around the track and obstacle course respectively.

A further highlight for the club members this year was the chance to design a model truck with their own name.

At lunchtime, all the members met in the casino and the SCHUCO Team reviewed club activities in 2010, reported on new models and club services in 2011 and answered any questions members had. As in previous years, the club members were treated to a sumptuous buffet of regional Franconian specialities. The guest of honour, Herbert Linge, was warmly greeted by the members during the lunch. As the initiator of “ONS Sicherheitsstaffel” - the first mobile track marshalling crew – he held the SCHUCO COLLECTORS CLUB members spellbound with pictures from his private collection and a compelling speech.

Many of the visitors used the rest of the afternoon to chat to fellow club members or the members of the SCHUCO Team, who, as every year, were all in attendance.

The final event of an extremely successful day was the tombola in which there were attractive prizes manufactured by the SIMBA DICKIE GROUP to be won. Each member was presented with a surprise goody bag which included the Piccolo special model Porsche 911 RS #10 “Gulf Racing – MEETING SCHUCO COLLECTORS CLUB 2010”.
