Toy Fair 2012

01. February 2012

Dear SCHUCO fans,

This year is the 63rd time that the International Toy Fair has opened its doors. And the day has been anticipated with great excitement by hundreds of model fans for this year sees the celebration of Schuco's centenary. The traditional toy brand was first founded in 1912 and the first products were cuddly toys with special features. Back then, the Pick-Pick bird became a cult toy selling 20 million items which was an unprecedented success for the times.

In its centenary year, in addition to many other new releases, Schuco will be presenting Edition 100. The Schuco Studio on a scale of 1:8, which has been manufactured in resin, is a highlight of the collection and is limited to 100 items worldwide, numbered consecutively. There will also be a centenary bear to pay homage to the cuddly toys of Schuco's past. The bear, which is part of a limited edition of 500 items, is made in Germany and appropriately for the occasion will play "Happy Birthday" when they key in its back is turned. Furthermore, there will be four models from the Classic range, a Studio I, a commando car, an Akustico and a Wendeauto (turning car) in a special paint. These models are all limited to 500 items each, are mounted on a wooden plinth and are numbered consecutively. Last but not least, in this Edition 100 there will also be a Piccolo set with classics from the Schuco Piccolo range. The Ford Hot Rod, the Firebird and the FX Atmos were part of former collections and these three models are being reissued for our centenary.

Two historical Schuco models will also be reissued as replicas in the Classic range: the Rollfix, following a Mercedes-Benz Coupé template and Studio I with a mechanical sound.

In 2011, Schuco presented the first models in Edition 1:18 Exklusiv. In this centenary year, in addition to the two colour variations for the VW T 1 box van (Fire engine Berlin and Jägermeister) and the one for Porsche 550 ("James Dean - Little Bastard"), we will be presenting four completely new releases. The first of these is the Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Cabrio. In addition to which, Schuco is also pleased to present the Porsche 911 Turbo and Cup 3.8 and a VW T 1 Samba in Lufthansa design.

There are also some new models in the current Edition 1:43 range including VW Up and the Beetle.

Promising equal success are the cars in the Schuco ProR range on a scale of 1:43 including the Mercedes-Benz 600, Porsche 356, Porsche 550 Spyder, Porsche 911, Porsche 934 and the Renault R5 Turbo. We have not forgotten to include the very latest range of the new car models such as Audi S6, S6 Avant, S7 Sportback and S8 and the Mercedes-Benz SLS Roadster.

On a scale of 1:10 classic motorbikes are presented in colour variations (Kreidler Florett RSL) and as a completely new version of the NSU Quickly.

Collectors and fans of our Piccolo models can look forward to very special new releases: the VW Beetle and the VW T1 box van do not only carry the label "made in Germany" but are in fact manufactured in the country and are limited to 500 items each.

The two replicas of the AC Cobra 289, each limited to 500 items, do not only have a high-quality paint finish in red or matt black but are also impressive with their numerous details and opening doors and flaps. The sophisticated Schuco Bolide, on a scale of 1:12 is 32 cm in length and weighs almost 2.5 kilos and is another highlight for 2012.

Our models on a scale of 1:87 have gained an excellent reputation in the world of agriculture. In addition to the new model of the John Deere combine-harvester T670 with 630R cutterbar and trailer, there are three more new models, the Fendt Favorite 626 LSA, the Fendt 724 Vario and the ICH 1455 XL. Further new releases are also to be found in the construction and utility vehicle range (including the Liebherr dumper truck and the Mercedes-Benz Econic refuse vehicle) and in the model car range (including the Citroen 2CV, Opel Manta A, Golf I GTI, VW T5 box van and the Porsche 934 RS "Jägermeister").
