In 1968, as a successor to the legendary T1 and as a reaction to the new Ford Transit models, the T2, the second generation of the small Volkswagen pick-up truck was launched onto the market. In terms of road holding and cornering stability its chassis set new standards for utility vehicles and only borrowed the tried-and-tested front steering design from the T1. Until 1970, the T2, which was powered by a 47 hp air-cooled 4-cylinder Boxer motor, was constructed in the T2a version and was finally taken over by the development of the T2b.
The miniature model on a scale of 1:18 is characterised by its true-to-life detail, functioning steering and opening door and flaps which allow a view of the perfectly reproduced interior and engine.
