“In the beginning, I looked around but couldn’t see the car I’d been
dreaming
of. So I decided to build it myself.” With this famous
remark by Ferry Porsche, one of the most impressive success stories in
automotive
history began. Starting with the Porsche No.1 from
1948 up to its highest stage of development, the Porsche 356 SC, more
than 76,000
units of this first Porsche series sports car were
produced from 1948 onwards, until it ceased production in 1965. The 356
SC
produced an output of 95 hp from its 1.6 litre, air-cooled
4-cylinder Boxer engine and reached a top speed of 185 kilometres per
hour.
