During the entire construction period of the Porsche 356, more than 76000 units of this classic sports car were produced between 1948 and 1965. The 356 Porsche was delivered to its enthusiastic clientele as a coupe, convertible, hardtop coupe and also as a particularly sporty and lightweight speedster. The sparsely equipped Speedster was developed at the suggestion of the German-American Max Hoffmann, the Porsche importer for the United States at the time. Incidentally, it was Max Hoffmann who, during a dinner, convinced Ferry Porsche to create a memorable brand emblem for his sports cars in order to enhance the brand identity. The result of his efforts was the Porsche Crest that is so famous today.
