Porsche 550A Spyder 1:18
450032900€99.00
"Porsche started to develop its first racing car in 1952 at its headquarters in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. This culminated in the launch of the Porsche 550 Spyder, which was based on the specs of the Porsche 356. This mid-engined car was equipped with a lightweight metal chassis and sported a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder boxer engine known as the ‘Fuhrmann’ engine. Weighing just 550 kg, the Porsche 550 Spyder helped the fledgling brand to develop its reputation as a manufacturer of lightweight, reliable and efficient sports cars. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1955, the 550 Spyder was driven by the racing duo Polenski/von Frankenberg, who came fourth overall and first in the 1500 ccm vehicle class. Due to very high demand from racing drivers and well-heeled Porsche enthusiasts from the US, the 550 Spyder soon received approval for road use and could be ordered for 24,600 German marks at Porsche dealers." "As a successor to the famous Ponton Mercedes, the W120, Mercedes-Benz introduced in 1961 the W110 series, also known as the “little tail fin”. With the so-called “tail fin” design feature, the Mercedes-Benz design department, previously known for its conservatism, made a concession to the American automobile design prevailing at the time. Mercedes, however, called them “Peilstege”, as they clearly marked the end of the vehicle when reverse parking."<br

"In 1966, on the occasion of its 50-year jubilee, BMW presented the compact, middle-class, 02 series saloon. The „2“ in the model designation stood for two-door and was supposed to make it easier for the customer to differentiate it from the somewhat larger „New Class“ saloon. In its time, the „02“ completed the bottom end of the BMW range and until its production was stopped in 1977, was the biggest-selling BMW of the 70s. Designed for BMW by the well-known bodywork company Baur in Stuttgart, from 1968 Baur also produced a full-size, 4-seat saloon and a Targa equipped with a roll bar for fresh air fans of the brand."<br /

"In 1953, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the Mercedes 180, from the W120 series, as its first completely new passenger car redesign since the war. Also known as the “Ponton Mercedes” (the “Ponton Mercedes”), the 180 was a car for the upper middle class and replaced the pre-war 170V design. The “Ponton” was also the first Mercedes with a self-supporting chassis. The 180 D, introduced in 1954, became popular all over the world as a reliable taxi and was responsible for making the use of diesel engines in passenger cars popular."

"As the successor to the Porsche 911 series 997, the 911 series 991 presented at the Frankfurt IAA 2011 already represents the 7th generation of the sports car legend from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. Due to increasing safety and comfort requirements, the vehicle weight of the predecessor series has risen steadily. For this reason, the 991 was the first Porsche to be manufactured using a new type of aluminum-steel composite construction. As an intermediate stage between the Carrera S and the GT3, Porsche introduced the Carrera GTS models in 2014."

"A fine miniature version can be found in the engine bay of the air-cooled, 2.4-litre, 6-cylinder boxer engine which produced an impressive 190HP in the original and made the Porsche 911 S, with its maximum speed of 230 km/h, one of the fastest sports cars of its time. The likewise very finely detailed interior of the miniature Porsche is based on its full-size model and shares many details, like the five circular instruments typical of the 911 and the equally characteristic orange-coloured needles."
